A Clean and Global North: exploring role of Arctic and Baltic Sea regions in tackling climate change
This high-level event organised by Finland’s Presidency of the Council of the EU, the European Commission and the European External Action Service aims to strengthen sustainable international cooperation in Europe’s northern regions through dialogue and to reflect on both current challenges and future opportunities.
The event brings together participants from several different countries: ministers, senior officials, experts and representatives of the private sector, civil society and academia.
The event will take place at Finlandia Hall in Helsinki. It will be opened by Prime Minister Antti Rinne.
We believe that the EU can and must be a frontrunner in tackling climate change. I am convinced that we have the opportunity to keep our economies sustainable while at the same time reducing the risks of climate change. Indeed, climate action and the circular economy are essential to the transition to a clean, low-emissions future and resilient society. Prime Minister Antti Rinne
Finland’s Presidency has drawn attention to the need to raise the EU’s profile as a global climate leader by establishing a long-term climate strategy for making the EU carbon neutral by 2050.
