EU Foreign Affairs Council addressed topical issues, Iran, Iraq and the Central African Republic
The Foreign Affairs Council (FAC) of the European Union met in Brussels on 15 July 2019. The meeting was chaired by High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini.
The foreign ministers started their meeting by discussing pressing international issues. They also discussed the current situation in Iran, Iraq and the Central African Republic. Migration was also on the agenda. Over lunch, the ministers had an informal discussion with the new Moldovan Foreign Minister.
Finnish Foreign Minister commented on his visit to Sudan
In the FAC meeting, Minister for Foreign Affairs Pekka Haavisto gave his report on his recent visit to Sudan. High Representative Federica Mogherini has mandated Minister Haavisto to reach out, on behalf of the EU, on the situation in Sudan and how the international community can accompany Sudan on its transition path.
