Common Agricultural Policy high on agenda of Agriculture and Fisheries Council
EU agriculture ministers exchanged views on the EU’s common agricultural policy (CAP) reform package beyond 2020 and its environmental and climate-related aspects at the Agriculture and Fisheries Council in Brussels on 15 July. Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Jari Leppä chaired the meeting.
The ministers were also informed about the priorities and work programme of Finland’s Presidency of the Council of the EU in the field of agriculture and fisheries. Additionally, the Council was updated on the work of the high-level group on sugar.
The strategic and economic value of food and clean water and sustainable agriculture and forestry is increasing. We will promote a Common Agricultural Policy that can better respond to environmental protection and climate change, while ensuring food security.
