Automation is one of the main instruments in promoting sustainable growth and competitiveness in Europe.
In cooperation with the Commission, Finland will organise the Digital Transport Days conference in Helsinki. Topics on the agenda include maritime automation technology and regulation, and digitalisation of logistics. Based on a background document prepared by Finland, the member states will discuss at expert level the digitalisation and automation of shipping and logistics.
Work on the implementation of the Commission’s strategy on the Intelligent Transport Systems Directive will continue in road transport.
Automated transport viable in all modes of transport
Autonomous transport can improve transport efficiency and security as well as resolve environmental and climate-related challenges. Automated transport solutions across all transport modes should be encouraged.
Safe and efficient automation that is environmentally friendly requires cooperation, experimentation and clear rules in common.
